Today, God showed me how beautiful the world can be.
Last night, I was dreading the trip to New Jersey. Not because I didn’t want to go, but because I had 2 connecting flights with a total of about 6 hours of layover time. It was the cheapest option for such a last minute flight. I was really running right on time this morning for my flight. I packed at 6:00 and was done by 6:30. But right as I was about to step out the door, I could not find my keys. I literally searched every corner of my room and the house for a good 20 minutes. I was panicking because I knew that I would most likely miss my flight at 7:30.
I drove to school, Andrew sped me to the airport but I was still running late. By the time I got to the gate, the doors were closed, and the screen changed from “boarding” to “closed.” My heart stopped, I was so nervous that I would have to pay more money, or not be able to fly at all.
I waited for about an hour for them to fix my flight. Maybe it was fate, or luck, or coincidence, but not only did I not have to pay extra for my mistake, BUT I also now have a straight flight from Houston to New Jersey with only a 30 minute layover. Now, I know, it does not seem like a big deal. If this happened to me in the past, I would probably feel entitled to get the flight. But if it wasn’t for the kindness of the employee who literally spent an hour working on my tickets, I may not have been so lucky.
I also realized, that I have very very good friends. I am very blessed that I have always found good people wherever I am. Since I left my jacket at home, Alan was willing to drive all the way to my house, and then all the way back to the airport to bring me mine.
People who are so willing to help others unselfishly is really really rare to find. But today, two friends and a stranger proved that no matter how many things go wrong, or how many bad people there are, there will always be the few who are truly kind-hearted and good.
